The North East’s largest showcase of manufacturing and engineering suppliers has closed its doors on another successful year. Running from 6-7th July at the Radio Metro Arena, Newcastle, Manufacturing & Engineering North East provided a regional platform for the best of British design and manufacturing innovation.
Manufacturing & Engineering North East 2016 brought together 90 leading machinery, supply chain and engineering exhibitors alongside a packed conference and workshop programme. As a testament to the success of the event and high quality of the visitors, more than 50% of exhibitors have already rebooked for 2017.
The conference programme played host to 13 thought-provoking presentations, many of which were standing room only. Darren Cumner of Hitachi Rail in Newton Aycliffe opened proceedings to a packed house discussing the progress of its £82 million factory. Further highlights included Sora Group, Nissan, AMRC, UKTI, IMechE and Ford Aerospace. The two day conference was brought to a close by James Wharton MP, minister with responsibility for the Northern Powerhouse, who discussed his long term vision for the region post-Brexit.
“Having enthusiastic speakers and innovative technologies under one roof always creates a great atmosphere,” said Ed Tranter, managing director at event organiser MA Exhibitions. “In this, its second year, Manufacturing & Engineering North East had a great vibe and we have had some fantastic feedback from visitors and exhibitors.”
“We are already well under way with the planning for 2017 with plans to make the event even better for all our attendees. We look forward to bringing the manufacturing & engineering vibe back to Newcastle in 2017 so watch out for updates in the coming months.”
Manufacturing & Engineering North East is delivered in association with Eureka, Machinery and Works Management magazines. Leading trade bodies and institutions, including the North East LEP, NE Automotive Alliance, UKTI, Gateshead & Newcastle Inward Investment and the Advanced Manufacturing Forum supported the event along with headline sponsors, Fanuc.
