EMCO are proud to announce that we sponsored Lincoln UTC for the Greenpower Challenge

The team participated in the F24 category at Croft Race Circuit and emerged victorious in both Race 1 and Race 2. Thanks to our reliable kit car, they also came second in the F24+ category. The team also entered in the F24+ category at Blyton Race Circuit. We managed to secure second place even after some engineering issues. Our car, school and Greenpower Racing were featured on the BBC Look North News. “We are grateful for your sponsorship and are looking forward to investing in our next improvements to perform even better at the final race at Goodwood on 8th October.”

The Greenpower Challenge provides an opportunity for children to design and build an electric car to race at Greenpower events. The challenge is adapted to suit three age-appropriate categories: IET Formula Goblin (ages 9-11), IET Formula 24 (ages 11-16), and IET Formula 24+ (ages 16-25). The Goblin Kit Car takes around 15 hours to build and can be dismantled and rebuilt each year with a new team of children. The IET Formula 24 challenge gives 11-16 year olds the opportunity to build and race either a Greenpower Kit Car or their own design, while the IET Formula 24+ challenge is geared towards sixth forms, colleges, universities, and apprentices. Teams design, build, and race an electric car, culminating in the IET Formula 24+ Championship.

Greenpower provides age-appropriate Kit Cars that can be built and raced at motorsport venues around the country. The Greenpower Challenge harnesses the excitement of motorsport to inspire more than 10,000 participants a year to excel in STEM. They are the only STEM enrichment provider to run the same basic concept across such a wide age group, allowing for excellent progression throughout.
